What’s Your Previous Work Experience?
Over the last 15 years, I have worked for a non-for-profit church-related organization that has been committed to providing services for older adults. During this time, I pursued my Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and became a licensed nursing home administrator through the Florida Board of Nursing.
Early in my career, I worked as an Assistant to the Nursing Home Administrator during that time I was cross-trained in the social services department, central supply, staffing, medical records, and receptionist. My favorite role was as the Admission Coordinator for the skilled nursing facility which included the case management of the managed care patients. My knowledge of the complex system of Medicare and Medicaid provides me a competitive advantage in the always evolving and challenging career path of serving older adults. I have always loved to help others and being able to help seniors has given me the opportunity to give back to my community.
Where did you grow up?
I am originally from Iowa and grew up in a very small town. Our family-owned and operated the local bakery.
What do you do for fun?
My family and I enjoy outdoor activities, we like to kayak, camp, and hoverboard. We also are avid Disney fans and are annual pass holders.
What are you passionate about?
I enjoy refurbishing furniture and saving old but loved pieces from going to the trash. One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.
Any weird personality traits/ quirks?
I can’t whistle but I really enjoy music, all types. I sang in the chorus during high school and with my church.
