We are so excited to welcome Shannon Laratonda to our Sunways Team!
Shannon comes with vast clinical and healthcare administrative experience. Most recently she worked as a Program Director for Wound Care & Hyperbaric Medicine, where she dealt with the senior population. She was formerly a physician recruitment manager and helped contract SNF’s with Wound Care. Previously, Shannon was a Primary Care provider specializing in cardiovascular and diabetic therapies. Shannon has navigated the healthcare maze from several different angles which she hopes to apply and excel for patients in this new role.
Where did you grow up? How did you end up where you are?
I grew up in central Pennsylvania. I went to PITT for undergrad and then St. Lucia for Medical School. I then decided to leverage business over clinical medicine and have lived in 6 different states in the past decade. FL has been my home for the past couple of years and years to come since many of my family and friends are in the surrounding areas.
What do you do for fun?
I enjoy adventuring with my dogs. This includes dog parks, kayaking and long walks. I adore spending time with my family and niece. I’m active within the community, always helping people. I like to cook and try new recipes, and I even make my own dog food!
What are you passionate about?
I am most passionate about connecting people with resources, developing others, personally and professionally, and process optimization. Everything and everyone can always be better. As a lifelong learner, I am most passionate about embracing constant change and optimizing healthcare processes for seniors.
What’s your WHY? Why Sunways? Why Senior Care?
Seniors are a very special population. I help my grandmothers navigate their care every day and see how constant change can be so frustrating. If I was in their shoes, I would need guidance all the time. Since caring for her grandmother’s life change to a permanent ostomy and recent hospice experience, she is passionate about helping all seniors, near or far.
I chose Sunways because of the core values practiced by all their employees. Everyone is compassionate and kind; led by the two co-founders!
