We are so excited to welcome Sherryl Cabildo to our team! Sherryl will be helping families in Clearwater find senior care and resources. When we first met with Sherryl, we just knew she’d fit right in. She embodies the same core values that Sunways was built on. Learn more about Sherryl below…
What is your previous work experience?
I’ve always worked in the business of helping others. Before I moved to Florida from New York, I worked as a Senior Teller in a bank. At Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, I started as a Financial Service Cashier. I moved into Guest Services Assistant where I helped arrange on-site health services and second opinions for patients seeking care from outside nations. After I moved to Florida in 2004. I’ve been a Social Worker in four different Skilled Nursing Facilities where I gained meaningful patient and family interactions while managing caseloads of 70+ long-term care residents and keeping following state and federal regulations as enforced by AHCA and The Joint Commission.
Where did you grow up?
I grew up in the hustle and bustle, melting-pot of New York; Woodside, Queens, and New Hyde Park, Long Island. After 9/11, I moved down to Pinellas County in Florida. I consider myself still growing. So, even now, I’m still learning and growing in Clearwater, Florida.
What do you do for fun?
Travel. Submersing myself in other cultures. It helps improve my empathy and understanding of others with different backgrounds. I also enjoy practicing and working on my wellness through meditation, yoga and Hotworx. Food is fun. I like going out to eat with friends and trying different restaurants and dishes.
Any weird personality traits/ quirks?
I belong to the clean-plate club 😋. Also, some people think that my daring eclectic taste of food from different cultures is quirky.
Why Senior Care?
I find it rewarding and feel great satisfaction from helping people. I’ve learned that when someone is dealing with hospitalization and then having to navigate the healthcare system, it can be overwhelming and confusing. It’s helpful to the patient and family to have someone who can explain what to expect, help them through, advocate their needs and offer them their options.
Guiding and showing them that while life may change, it doesn’t end and in the right environment, our elderly can thrive and continue.
Why Sunways?
I truly feel aligned with Sunway’s core values: optimism, empathy, empowerment, transparency, discipline, and advocacy. All of them resonate at a higher frequency. It feels right and fits with me and my values. When I met Elli and Mark and spoke to Lauren, I felt they embody their core values. We all seem to share the same passion for helping others and the community.
I am so excited to work with Sunways and assist our seniors and community.
